Origin and training for First aid Meaning and origin of First aid concept. First aid refers to the help in the form of medicine that can be given on the first stage or immediate stage of some accident that may occur to any person. Thus first aid means the immediate help that can be given in the form of bandage, medicine, CPR, and various other methods for life saving purpose. First aid training concept gained momentum with the start of the nineteenth century when the World War I started. The Red Cross was made during that time which used to give first aid to the army personnel which used to get wounded during the war times. A very important name that needs to be mentioned here is of Florance Nightangle. She was among the members of Red Cross and used to work day and night to serve the wounded soldiers. Later her efforts were recognized by the world and she was given Noble prize for peace.
In India, the name of Mother Teresa, a member of Red Cross society, got popular with the common masses, due to her endless efforts to serve the poor public of the country. After the two World wars, the Red Cross society is being entitled to give first aid and immunization to the common people of each country of the world. Presence of First aid centers and the Red cross in different countries. Now every country has its own Red Cross society and is expected to give First aid and awareness to the people of the country against various diseases. Due to the rising fear of spreading AIDS in different parts of the world the First aid centers and the Red cross of different countries has now the responsibility of awakening people against the causes of AIDS and the precautions that may be needed to avoid this disease. As their is no such medicine made to completely remove this disease and save the life of a person, so precautionary methods are given more stress.
In case of people suffering from this disease, free medicines to increase the lifetime of such people are given by the government of that country. Other countries of the world also send free medicines to the backward countries to fight the diseases in their region. Why first aid If an accident
occurs in some place, then many a times it is possible that the hospital may not be near the accident site. Also the availability of the expertise doctor required to help the patient may not be near the suffering person. In that cases first aid is given to the person so that some time can be gathered in which the person can be taken to the right place for better treatment without making bigger loss. And that some time can be gathered only by giving First aid training to the person on the accident site or the place far away from the hospital. First aid training helps a person to hang on for some time so that he/she can be taken to required medical authorities and can be given better treatment. For instance, In case of some accident, if a person breaks his/her bone then his leg or arm as the case may be, can be bandaged with a stick so that the part of the body remains straight and stretched. This is done so that the body part may not reduce or breaks more in the mean time, the person is taken to the hospital. Training for first aid. Training for first aid is necessary for every single individual in this world. Different short-term programs are started in various schools of different countries, which are meant to give the children the required first aid to other people when it is really required. People in the villages of backward country are given knowledge of first aid. The training for first aid is given by the various Red Cross members, which sometimes offer their service free of cost. The training for first aid starts by making proper gathering of people and then showing them visuals and telling them some case studies. Making involvement of the viewers help them understand better than just by watching.
The various methods that can be taught during training for first aid by taking some case studies are as follows. In case of accident occurring due to vehicle collision. In such case the people inside the vehicle should be taken out and lied on the ground in the open air. Then their clothes to be hooked off a little so that oxygen passages may not hinder. Next step to inform the hospital authorities and take the person to the nearby facility. In case of person drowning in the water body. In this case a person should be taken out of the water body and lied on the ground on the opposite side. Then pressing the back of the person will help to take out the water from the lungs. In case the breath is not finding way out from the suffering person, CPR should be given to the person. CPR or temporary breath system is a method in which air is filled in the mouth and then sent in the mouth of the suffering person so that the breath may start easily. In case of person getting burnt. In case a person gets burnt due to firebreak out, then in that case a person should be rolled on the ground so that the fire may end. In such people make mistake of rolling person with a cloth. This can create problem.
A person should be taken to the medical facility instead of taking other steps. Just make sure the fire is off and the person does not come in contact with some other cloth. In case of electric current. If a person gets effected by an electric current, then the first step is to push back the person from the electric current item, and that should not be done by hands, but with the help of some wooden item. Then try to remove electric current from the item. In case of firebreak water should be sprinkled on the items. First arrangements of removing electric current should be ensured and then using fire extinguisher like cease-fire should be used. Then the person effected from the electric current should be taken to the hospital if needed. Conclusion. In conclusion the origin of the First aid training concept gained momentum with the start of First World War. There are various methods that can be used as first aid to save lives of the people. The need is just to make people aware of the first aid so that proper help can be given to the sufferer and time can be taken to the hospital
