Bangladesh stock exchange
Bangladesh have two Stock Exchanges, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), founded in 1954 where buying and selling is carried out by Computerized Automated Trading System and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), recognized in 1995 where trading is carried out by Computerized Automated Trading System as well. All exchanges are self controlled, private sector bodies which are obliged to get their functioning policies accepted by the SEC.
Dhaka Stock Exchange (usually identified as DSE) is the major stock exchange of Bangladesh. It is situated at Motijheel at the center of the Dhaka town. It was established in 1954. DSE is the first stock exchange of bangladesh.
It initial established as East Pakistan Stock Exchange Association Ltd on 28th April 1954 and begun official trading in 1956. It name was changed to East Pakistan Stock Exchange Ltd on 23rd June 1962. Again its name changed to Dacca Stock Exchange Ltd in 13th May 1964. After the liberation war in 1971 the operations of the exchange were stopped for five years. In 1976 trading started again in Bangladesh.
On 16th September 1986, DSE All Share Price Index was initiated. The modus operandi for computing DSE all share price index was altered according to IFC on 1st November 1993. The mechanized trading was started on 10th August 1998. On 1st January 2001, DSE 20 Index was instigated. Central Depository System was started on 24th January 2004. From November 15th 2007, the yardstick index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went across 3000 points for the first time, establishing a further new level at 3013 points.
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) is a public limited corporation, established and administered under Company Act 1994, Security and Exchange Commission Regulation 1994, Security and Exchange Commission Act 1993, and Security Exchange (Inside Trading) regulation 1994. The issued capital of this corporation is Tk. 500,000 which is divided equal to 250 shares each one valuing Tk. 2000. No person or corporation can acquire over one share. According to stock market law, just the associates are allowed to take part in the floor and are able to acquire shares for himself or his customers. Presently it has 230 associates. Market capitalization of DSE attained almost $9 billion in September 2007.
Chittagong Stock Exchange is situated in the harbor town of Chittagong in south eastern Bangladesh. It was created in 1995 as the second stock exchange of the nation. The exchange is situated in the Agrabad industrial region of the town.
