Financial aid for international students

Financial aid is a type of support in the form of money. Students financial aids are a type of financial assistance for completing their studies including tuition fees and other expenditure related to it . Merit based financial aid and need based financial aid ; these are the two types of financial aid provided to the students . Merit based scholarship includes all the sources of financial aid, that are awarded by either universities, colleges or any other sponsored organizations . Need based financial aids is based on the students requirements for tuition fees and hostel accommodation . Athletics scholarships are a type of merit based scholarship .

Aid from home country: Getting loan from home country, it is one of the best source for students who want to study abroad . Students can get all of the important information regarding local source and support from their nearest education advising centre or ministry of education . There will be also many private and government organization, which provides support and information to students.

Aid from International organization: For studying abroad, some of the international organization also provides fund to students . Apart from this, Fulbright scholarships are granted to more than 4,500 graduate students worldwide each year. For availing these scholarships, applicants are required to score in TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT examination .

Aid from the US Government: There are aids available to some of the specific countries student, from the US government. Students can get the information about this aid through their respective embassy.

Aid from US educational institutions: International students, who want to enroll for graduation or post graduation program at the US University, institutes, or college; should contact the respective department for information regarding aids. Most of the US educational institute provides aid for international students on their graduation program as a research scholar or a teaching scholar . This assistantship is availed to students on their merit, not for their financial need requirement status .

Aid from private organizations and sponsors: Some of the US organizations and sponsors also assist for financial aid to the international students .

Bard foreign scholarships: This is a non-refundable scholarship. It is given to students based on the students financial need and academic achievements . This scholarship is for those students, who are taking admission for a full time course . Students can get $5,000 to $20,000 scholarship.

Financial aid through International student and scholar services (ISSS) : There is a financial aid award competition organized by international student and scholar services administers, three times in a year . $2,500 per semester financial aid is awarded to the selected students .

Assistance from family: This would be the best option for students, going abroad with the help of their parents • money or money arranging from their relatives contributions.
