This form is also updated every year when new forms are printed .

Form 1040 is the basic number and has many derivatives . This form can be used by any American who is a full time resident of this nation . Residents whose accounts are straight forward can use this form . There is however another form 1040EZ which is a variant of the basic form . It can be used by residents who have no uncomplicated tax situations . This is the simplest form along with 1040A. This can be used by residents whose accounts do not show any profit and loss accounts or not any income from capital gains. Some versions of Form 1040 are colored blue for ease of identification .

Now in income tax payer may well ask as to when he is supposed to fill and submit this form. It may be noted that Income tax returns for individual calendar year taxpayers are due by April 15 of the next year . In case April 15 falls on a Sunday or holiday then the returns are due on the first succeeding day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday . Generally form 1040 is quite easy to fill up and consists of two pages.
