Low carbohydrates recipes
Carbohydrates are an essential part of our diet but when consumed in excess can lead to a lot of health related problems. Doctors always advise to have a balanced carbohydrate diet. For people who are on diet restrictions, low carbohydrate diet is recommended. A low carbohydrate diet does not mean that you would have to compromise on the taste. There are some very delicious low carbohydrate dishes that you can easily make and have. Some of these low carbohydrate recipes are mentioned below:
Beef and broccoli with Garlic sauce
Though it sounds to be a very high calorie recipe but has only a total calorie of 280 and 6 g of carbohydrates. To make this dish you require the following ingredients for 6 servings.
Beef steak: 1 pound
Broccoli: 1 pound
Chicken broth: 1 cup
Vegetable oil: 4 spoons
Cornstarch: 1 tsp
Garlic finely chopped: 1 tsp
Sesame oil: 1 tsp
White pepper: 1 dash
Ginger root finely chopped: 1 tsp
Bamboo shoots sliced: 1 cup
Brown bean sauce: 2 tbsp
Salt: to taste
How to make:
Neatly remove the fat from the beefsteak and cut the beef steak into long strips of 2 inches. Then cut these strips crosswise into slices. Take the beef slices, salt, 1 tbsp vegetable oil and white pepper in a bowl and toss. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for half an hour. Peel the broccoli stems and cut it into slices and remove the flowerets. Put the broccoli into boiling water and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain the hot water and then wash it with cold water and drain. Mix the cornstarch, broth and sesame oil. Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp of vegetable oil. Cost the bottom of the pan with the oil and place the beef in the oil and fry it for 2 minutes till the beef becomes brown. Remove the beef and keep it aside when cooked. Again take 1 tbsp oil and cost the bottom of the pan and heat it. Add the ginger roots, garlic and the bean sauce and fry it for half a minute. Then add the bamboo shoots and again fry for 1 minute. Add the broccoli and the beef and slowly add the cornstarch mixture in the pan and cook till it thickens.
Serve it hot with steamed rice it tastes lovely.
Chicken with Coconut Milk
This is an easy to make recipe. The total calories in it count to 2260 and 13g of carbohydrates. To make this recipe for 4 servings, you need the following ingredients.
Chicken thighs skinned: 8
Vegetable oil: 2 tbsp
Coconut milk: 14 oz. can-1
Cinnamon sticks: 3 (1 inch pieces)
Black peppercorns: 1 tsp
Cloves whole: 10
Red chilies dried: 3
Cardamom pods: 8
Fresh ginger grated: 1 tbsp
Salt: to taste
How to make:
Heat the oil in a pan and add the cloves, peppercorns, red chilies, cardamom and cinnamon. Stir till the cardamoms become slightly dark and then add the ginger stir it for a while and then add the chicken and coconut milk and salt to taste. Add water just to cover the chicken pieces and bring it to boil. Then cook it for 40 minutes at a low flame uncovered. When the gravy thickens add seasoning according to your taste and add a bit of limejuice. Serve hot with wild rice.
Raspberry spinach salad
This is a healthy dish with low carbohydrate content of 2-5gms per serving. To make this dish you require the following ingredients:
Fresh raspberries: 1 cup
Raspberry jam sugar free: 2 tbsp
Raspberry vinegar: 2 tbsp
Splenda: 3 packets
Spinach rinsed and torn to pieces: 8 cups
Light olive oil: 1/3 cup
Macadamia nuts or toasted almond slices coarsely chopped: 1 cup
Celery hearts finely chopped: 1 cup
How to make:
Mix the vinegar and the jam in a small bowl and add the olive oil in a thin stream and blend well.
Take the spinach and half of the nuts half of the celery, half of the raspberries and dressing in a big bowl and toss then add the remaining ingredients and serve.
Almond flour pound cake
How can someone forget the deserts when talking about the low carbohydrate recipes? Here is the almond flour cake, which give you a net of 6.1 carbohydrates in every serving. To make 12 servings of this dish you need the following ingredients:
Eggs large: 5
Butter at room temperature: 1 cup
Almond flour: 2 cups
Splenda: 1 cup
Full fat cream cheese: 1 cup
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Vanilla extract: 1 tsp
Lemon extract: 1 tsp
Cake-Ability Baking Aid: 1 cup
How to make:
Mix the cream cheese, cream butter and spleda well together in a bowl. Add eggs one by one and keep beating the mixture throughout.
In another bowl mix the almond flour with the baking powder and the Cake-Ability Baking Aid. Break all the lumps that form. Now slowly add the egg mixture to this flour mixture little by little and keep beating it. In the end add the vanilla and the lemon extracts.
Take a baking pan and grease it with butter and put the batter in this pan. Bake the batter at 350 degreeF for almost an hour. You can make your own alterations in the flavor by changing the extracts.
Yogurt smooth
This recipe contains a total of 414 calories and 30g of carbohydrates. To make one serving of this you require the following ingredients:
Heavy cream: 1 cup
Flax seed: 1 cup
Davinci Syrup, any flavor: 1 cup
Plain full-fat yogurt: 1 cup
Ice cubes: 6
Frozen strawberries: 1 cup
Take all the ingredients in a blender excepting the ice cubes and blend them well, till it becomes smooth. Add the ice and blend it again and serve cold with a touch of mint.
