Valentines crafts

February has always been a month of romance and love. Valentines Day, the mid-February festival that is celebrated by all as a festival of love has got its own charm. The day is traditionally the most favorable day on which lovers express their love for each other. The most commonly used are Valentines cards, red roses and candies. The day became a festival celebrating romantic love in the Middle Ages when chivalry and courtly love was at its peak. Fourteenth February is named after Saint Valentine- a Christian martyr. The most appealing aspect of the day is the mutual exchange of love notes in the shape of "valentines". Modern Valentine symbols are many, of which well-known are heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged angel.

Greeting cards have been on the fore replacing the handwritten notes of the yore. The cards offer a variety to choose from thus making it easier for the not-so-gifted ones a chance to word their love the way they would ideally like. As per the survey, just about one billion valentines are being sent each year worldwide, making the day the largest card-sending holiday of the year, second only to Christmas. Still a personal gift would always rank first for anyone who wants to express their love to their sweethearts. And what better then to create something of your own to impress and woo that special person off their feet!

Valentines crafts are simple and amusing to make.

They can be done by a child or a grown up person and just as much convey the essential quality it is made up of and made for Love. Love Bugs:

these make very easy gifts for almost anyone from parents, grandparents, friends to your very special person. And it is so easy to make that even kids can try them making.

What you need:

Disposable spoons, Plaster of Paris, Paint and paint brushes, Wiggle eyes, Jewelry pin backings or magnets, Butter knife, Clear acrylic spray.

How to proceed:

Select the size and shape of disposable spoons as the kind of bugs you want to make. Mix the Plaster of Paris in the uniformity of soft dough. Place plaster in the well of the spoons and plane with butter knife. After a minute or two press on pin backings (for pins to wear) or magnets (for the fridge). Leave it to dry completely. Pop out the basic bug shape from spoons by pressing the outer edges of the spoon. With butter knife smooth edges of bug carefully. Paint bugs with the colors of your preference. For the ones who want to use these bugs as a gift to your beloved, deep red and black ones with a touch of silver would seem ideal. You can place the two twisted eyes on while the paint is still wet or stick them later with glue. To put in the final touch, scatter with acrylic and let the things dry. Now that your bugs are ready, just wait for them to dry completely before you present them to the ones you made them for. The pinned backed ones placed on a silk flower make them look real attractive as with the magnet ones in potted plant to give to someone special.

Mini Scrapbook of your special moments:

We all like to capture our special moments in photographs, and what better way to relive those moments than go through them in a very personalized manner on that special day. It will not only bring back old memories of the good times but also act as a catalyst to make the current day more special.

What you need:

Pictures and special snaps, Card paper, Lace or ribbons, Sparkle color pens, Small decorative hearts and flowers, Paint and paint brushes.

How to proceed

Select the most memorable picture-the fun ones and exciting ones. It may contain something someone has done to be proud of, a special event together, or maybe a cute smile that makes you smile back. Fold and cut the card paper to even squares of the size you wish and place them in concert and punch holes through the left hand side. Take the lace or ribbon through the holes and secure in a chic bow to get the base for your mini scrapbook. Now glue the pictures onto your scrap book. Adding a comment in the form of captions bring out the thoughts behind the pictures. Captions like, I love you because... or Remember when... make the nostalgic moments more vivid and cherished. Finally decorate your scrap book with the decorative hearts, flowers and you can even paint some hearts or just designs like big polka dots to make it brighter. Your scrap book is ready to surely light up your beloved?s eyes and adds on to your collection of magical and special moments.
