Later try to perform some simple tests that could lead you to find out the malfunction of the problem and the kind of repair needed to correct the problem . Car cranks but would not start:

This problem could be rectified by diagnosing the problem as repair by symptom. This is one of the common problems faced by many of the car owners and drivers . The fact is that the modern fuel injection system of the car is very reliable. Hence when the car stops running there are three basic check that one need to perform to identify the error. For an engine to run these three things are of utmost necessary . They are Compression, Fuel and the Spark. If any of these things are missing then the engine of the car will not run .

Compression:

All the internal combustion engines especially of the car require compression to run the vehicle . One of the main reasons that the engine of the car looses compression is the timing belt or if the timing chain fails .

Fuel: In case of a car, the internal combustion engine requires fuel to run, and one of the most main reason the fuel system of the car stops working in these day ? s fuel injected cars is that the fuel pump stops functioning .

Spark:

Spark of a car is that which ignites the fuel into the combustion chamber . The spark must beat and click at the right time . Hence the car owner? s manual must be consulted and read carefully to follow the adjustment procedure . Some of the main reason that most of spark operation in a car fails is due to the failure mechanism of the ignition coil, ignition distributor, and the ignition module .

Car Repair by symptom:

The car does not crank over( i.e. No starter operation) The initializing system of the car has two varied voltage demand system . One system is at a high voltage draw, which is the actual starter motor of the car, and the other system carries low voltage which is used as triggering matter for the starter motor of the car . The charging system has to be in proper order for the proper starter operation of the car . If the alternator of the car is weak and is not charging, it will cause the battery to be low and this is the reason why the starter of the car fails and causes no operation . Hence proper care has to undertaken to see that the batteries are not fallen low due to any cause . To avoid this problem the following basic checks have to be performed to set right the starter problem of the car .

Test for the main system voltage of the car:

First turn the headlights of the car on and if they are glowing bright, then this indicates that the electrical system of the car has sufficient voltage . If this does not happen then it indicates that the battery needs to be charged and if the battery is not good enough then it needs to be replaced immediately . Also check the battery cable terminals of the car if there is any corrosion . If found then clean it or replace with a new one.

Draw test the Starter voltage:

To check this out turn on the headlights of the car, and watch the headlights and crank the engine of the car . If the headlights glow bright, then the starter motor of the car is probably not good enough and it has to be replaced . If the headlights of the car glow dim then this indicates that the starter motor is shorted or the battery of the car is weak . Make it a point to replace the battery cables of the car when they are corroded .

Check out the neutral safety switch of the car:

An automotive test light may be performed to check the power, when the ignition switch is on the crank position . Hence first check out for the power at the small terminal at the starter solenoid . At this point if the power is present then this indicates that the starter motor of the car is bad and this need to be replaced. If this test indicates that there is no power move to the neutral safety switch . Here check out for power, and if it does not pass through then the switch needs to be replaced.

Check out and repair the anti theft device of the car :

These days most of all the cars have an instrument called the anti theft device that would not let the car turn over in any circumstances . If this device does not function, then the car would not crank over though the alarm has been disabled . Hence to test this device of the car, one has to observe the security light on the instrument cluster of the car . When prone to test if the light flashes when the keys are in start position, then the security system of the car is said to be in failsafe mode . But if the car cranks over then it has to judged that the alarm system is not in good condition and needs to be replaced for safety reasons of the driver .

Check out and repair the internal engine damage:

If the engine of the car is not in good condition then the car will not turn over . This has to be tested out by installing a socket wrench on the front crankshaft bolt, and then rotate this. If it is turning with some amount of pressure then one need not worry, but if does not turn at all then one has to disassemble the engine and repair it or else they have to replace it with a new engine .
