Over the years, the automobile industry has grown immensely. Especially, the car parts are changing with the advancement in the technology. The car radio antenna has changed incalculably in these years. Initially, they looked to be a late addition in the production of the majority of automobiles. Earlier, the antennas were not induced looking at the design of the car. Nowadays, the concentration while incorporating antennas is more on the design of the car. The old car antennas offered poor reception to boot. With the invention of standard car antenna, the traditional ways of designing the antennas have been changed. Today?s car antennas are more effective than the traditional ones.

There was a need for antennas to provide more durable service and looking at the requirements, the traditional car antennas were replaced by more advanced and durable car antennas. The new advanced car antennas gave a good sound quality.

During 1960?s, most of the cars antennas were attached to its front fender. Then came the ear, where the antennas were placed on the windshields. But the problem in this was, when the windshield had to be replaced, however, owners often lost the only antenna available for their car. Nowadays, replacing antennas is no difficult task. It is very easy to replace antennas, whether the car is an automatic or manually retractable model.

Car antennas are long lasting car parts. They are the most durable part of the car. But these car antennas can be damaged due to many reasons. The most common factor that damages the car antenna is vandalism. In this, the car antenna simply gets break from the car\'s body. Other common reason for damaging the car antenna is when the driver fails to remember to retract their car\'s antenna while taking a car wash function. Some vehicles provide the facility of retracting the car antennas with a push of a button. Most of the cheap cars do not provide this facility. In that, the driver has to perform this function manually. And that is why breaking off the antennas while a car wash is common in this type of cars.

Replacing the broken antennas is an easy task. That again depends upon the on the year, make, and model of the vehicle. An antenna that is retracted by motor will be a bit more difficult to replace than one that is manually retractable. In order to replace a motorized antenna that is broken, firstly you have to take out the external top nut of the antenna mast. This will facilitate the easy removal of the old mast. After that, you need to take out the inner top nut and turn on the radio. You can dispose the attached inner nut and the nylon wire. In order to install a new antenna, there is a need to push the new nylon wire down through the assembly hole until it stops. After that, turn off the radio. You will then hear the motor and should see the cable recoil as the motor draws the cable inward, as if to withdraw the antenna itself. After the motor is stopped, you may connect the metal mast into the motor assembly. Then you are ready to install the antenna.
