Easter programs

Easter is a cherished festival that is celebrated by all the Christians in the world. It is celebrated in all parts of the world. This festival indicates the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is called as the son of God, the Father. The one and only God exists in different forms - God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is called God of Trinity. Jesus came to this earth as a small baby boy to live an exemplary life. Due to the evil spirits’ and their influence, many people started sinning which is an act against God. God so loved the people in this world that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ to this earth. He taught the right path of living to the people.

Jesus Christ came to this world as an unblemished lamb to die for all the sins of mankind, for according to God’s law the wages of sin is death. God Jesus died for all the sins of man kind. Jesus lived a Holy life proclaiming to all the people that he was the Son of God. He said in his preaching “I am the way, the truth and life. One can enter the kingdom of God only through me”. He has performed many miracles in this world, proving that he is the Son of God. He always taught his disciples and followers with the help of parables and illustrations. His life and his teachings show the best way for a man to live an honest, humble life on this earth. All his teachings and his life style were recorded in the Holy book of Christians called ‘The Bible’. The Bible was written by the Prophets with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Easter programs

There are Easter holidays in some countries. The week starting from Palm Sunday till the Easter Sunday will be called as Easter week. Every one enjoys the Easter holidays. All the Christians both the young and old, enjoy the festival. There will be many programs for the whole week. Some of them are listed below.

Baptism

Easter is a wonderful celebration for all the Christians in which they rejoice the victory of Jesus over death.

They also believe their sins are forgiven if they ask Jesus to cleanse all their sins. Christians take ‘Baptism’ as a symbol that they are newly born leaving behind all the sins of this world. It is written in the Bible that “Man is born in sin” and all the small wrong doings he does on this earth adds to it and makes him a sinner. By asking Jesus for forgiveness and accepting him as his personal Lord and Savior and getting baptized in the water, one can be relieved from all his sins by the blood of Jesus that has been shed 2000 years back for the sins of all mankind. Generally, on the eve of Easter, people get baptized and freed from all their sins in the name of Jesus Christ.

Easter decorations

All the Christians enjoy decorating their houses on this festival. As the festival Easter approaches, the first thing that comes to every one’s mind is Easter egg. Easter eggs are made by people at home or they are available in almost all the shops as the season arrives. Every house and shop will be decorated with colorful Easter egg crafts. Many symbols regarding Christ’s sufferings on Calvary are engraved on eggs. They are colored with attractive colors. All the parents get Easter eggs which are stuffed with candies and hide it in their house. The next morning, on the day of Easter, all the kids in the house rush to search for the eggs and taste the tang of the Easter candies. Parents also gift the one who finds many eggs. This type of game is also arranged within a small community. All the children will hang around carrying Easter eggs, candies and bunnies. Most of the children will have an attire of bunny rabbit on this occasion.

Easter Games

On the week of Easter, the church or some other Christian organization conduct games for all the related Christian believers. They will conduct games like running race in an oval shaped ground. Suspended eggs are beaten by kids who are blind-folded, rolling eggs race, bunny’s egg game etc. These are the games especially held on Easter. People enjoy playing them. The winners will be awarded with eggs. They are sometimes awarded with bunny dolls. Children enjoy making Easter eggs at their home. They color with different colors like red, green and golden colors. Red stands for the blood of Jesus that was shed for all the sins of mankind, green resembles holiness of Jesus and the golden color stands for the streets of golden color in heaven. Children also enjoy making bunny rabbit masks with their parents’ help.

Easter Church Activities

On Easter Sunday, all the members in the family attend morning service in the church, sing songs on Christ’s’ resurrection. They meditate on the word of God and worship Him. All the church members greet each other after the service as ‘Christ is risen, Alleluia” “He is risen indeed, Alleluia, Alleluia”. In most of the churches, all the members of the church will have a feast offered by the church. There will be Easter eggs and Easter cake as a special dish. Easter dinners will be exciting at home. Parents make all the wonderful Easter special recipes that are mouth-watering for their children. Chocolate Easter egg is a must. All the family members get together on this auspicious day and share their love and care towards each other.

Most of the people meet their relatives and friends and exchange Easter gifts as a token of love and care for each other. There are even Easter greeting cards that are sent by the people to their friends and relatives who are far away. Easter helps in getting all the families and friends together. The main message of Easter is to show God’s love for his creation. The cross on Calvary on which Jesus shed his precious blood stands as a symbol of God’s wonderful love and it shows the way for one’s salvation.
