Fire is a fast process of releasing energy in various intensities, in the form of light and heat and creates smoke. Making of fire is considered as mans greatest discovery. Every discovery has its own benefits as well as its drawbacks. With fire, many kinds of new equipments have been invented such as fuel. There are many chances of some kind of a problem in the fuel, which can emit fire. A variety of equipments are used for protection against fire. Fire fighters are the main individuals, as they operate all the apparatus in various fire accidents. The equipments used are found in all fire stations.
Fire engine is the most important equipment. This engine helps the fire fighters to reach the destination were there is fire accidents, in the earliest way possible. A pump is attached to this engine. It is designed in such a manner that the water comes out mechanically with the help of these engines. Many times, certain engines have an attachment, which can pump out chemicals in foam state by creating a blanket, which helps in extinguishing the fire faster. These engines have various ways of propelling water on the fire, depending on the fittings in the engine.
Turntable ladders are also very popular. They are at times termed as aerial ladders or abbreviated as TL. They are attached to the fire engine or truck. These ladders are very beneficial for gaining access to fires at a great height. These ladders are mounted on a turntable at the back of a truck or a lorry, a stable base allows achieving a greater ladder length. The main functions of these ladders are to make its easier for the firefighters to access the places, wherein the fire is at higher fronts and helps to avoid casualties at higher points. Hydraulic platforms are known as aerial platforms to fight fire. They have many functions. They are like the turntable ladders, which allow a high level access and have elevated water pump positions. Most of these platforms are designed to reach up to a height of 33metres. There are also larger models, which are designed to reach up to 100 meters. Additional equipment is fitted into the platform itself, which includes a control panel, water outlets, air outlets, and light equipment. Aerial towers are used to arrange a master stream of water. Water tenders is also termed as a water tanker, its basic function is to pitch large amounts of water to the scene. The other equipments used are: wild land fire appliances, rescue unit, airport crash tender, foam units, mobile command centers, and foam units.
