Health is wealth, as a wise man once said. And by good health we mean the well being of both the body and mind. Only when the body and mind are in perfect harmony can we achieve a optimum healthy life. The vigourous activities of our daily life sometimes leave us drained and exhausted. We are so caught up in the daily grind that our health takes a back seat. only when our body screams for attention are we jolted out of our stupor.

Lets face it most of us do take our health for granted. The smoke and polluction,bad eating habits and stressful lifestyle do take a toil on our health. And soon we complain of constipation, chronic fatigue, acid reflux, skin and hair problem and severe gas and bloating among other problems. We know that our body is naturally equipped to remove toxic wastes from our bodies ,but sometimes its unable to do so properly.

Its really sad how people waste their health to get money , and then spend their money to get back their health. But if we are careful and maintain a healthy lifestyle then we may stop these illness from unnecessarily plaguing us.

There are variety of medicines and diets available in the market which boast of improving health conditions without any side effects. But most of them are just fads and not of much consequence. Detox is derived from the word detoxifyinge.A toxin maybe a chemical or poison which may have dangerous effect on the body. Our body is naturally prepared to fight these toxins and eliminate them in the form of urine ,sweat and feces. But sometimes the body is not able to naturally remove the toxins in the body and these may have a negative impact on the body. This is when the detox diet comes into use.

According to the theory behind the detox diets ,our bodies are continually overloaded with toxins from, for example, pollution, pesticides ,cigarette smoke, insufficient diet, food additives, alcohol and caffeine. As these toxins build up in our system, many health problems can occur, including weight gain, cellulite, headaches, dull skin, bloating, fatigue, lowered immunity, aches and pains, and a general lack of good health. The process of detoxifying helps to remove these toxins from the body with the added benefit of loss in weight, reduced bloating ,glowing skin and less health problems.

Fruit cocktails are excellent but it should be consumed immediately ,otherwise vitamin C is easily destroyed. We must remember that a high intake of water and liquids will enhance in flushing out the kidneys,liver and the bowels.

Also during the Detox diet we should try and maintain a restful state of body and mind. Because its only by the proper harmony of body and mind that good health can be achieved and maintained. try and spend some time meditating and relaxing while listening to soothing music. Also you can arrange aromatherapy and massage sessions and achieve excellent benefits. Turning off mobile phones ,TV and other irritating stimuli can enhance this experience.

While being on the detox diet sometimes people might feel fatigue or dizziness ,hnce its always advisable not to indulge in strenuous activities or driving. You need to spend most of your time in relaxing and purifying your system.

Its also important to keep in mind that dairy ,sugar ,processed food, cigarette,

caffeine and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Though there are many positive results achieved from the detox diet ,there are many who feel that its not safe and effective. Various people argue that detox diet eliminates the consumtion of dairy products, this may lead to serious later on in life. Calcium contained in dairy products ,strengthens teeth and bones. lack of calcium may lead to serious ailments like osteoporosis. The main problem with detox diet is that its short on many nutrients, leading to certain deficiencies and lowered immunity. This strict diet may also result in you craving your favourite foods and may also result in developing an unhealthy obsession with food and a potential eating disorder.

Detox diets are healthy if we follow them for a short duration of time. Also its very healthy ,as it encourages good habits like eating more of vegetables and fruits, doing away with caffeine , processed food. In addition to it drinking more water and reducing alcohol and sodas is advised.

We should keep in mind that healthy eating and exercising is the mantra to good health. Moreover its motivating to keep an eye on our diet and take charge of our own health.
