ipod alarm clock
Music has become technical as never before. What people used to play on instruments as the only way of making music today can be mixed and matched to get your perfect song list. iPod is one of the premier media players in the market today. Invented and marketed in 2001 by Apple, iPod has grown enormously and has added to its numerous features. A wide range of iPod products consists mainly of audio digital players with a central click wheel. Fifth generation iPod, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, etc. are major players in the media market.
The primary use of iPod is as a media player. The iTunes software of Apple is used for the transfer of music files to the iPod and this software possesses the capability to store, play, rip and burn music from a CD. The software can also be used for transferring photos, videos, games and other features to the iPod. Apart from these uses, the iPod can also act as an external storage device.
One of the many features provided in this device is the alarm clock. An essential feature that has been the forte of clocks, watches, telephone and mobile phones, has been incorporated in the iPod as well. An alarm clock is something that everyone uses and requires almost each morning. iPod provides this opportunity for waking up with your own choice of sounds or music.
The alarm clock facility reposes in the Extras menu of iPod along with contacts, calendar, notes and games. To reach this feature, you must follow the path Extras Clock Alarm Clock.
iPod Technical Requirements
All iPods with firmware 2.1 and after have a built in alarm clock and provides a variety of options for sounds and other settings. The only exception is the iPod shuffle, which though it has a recent firmware, does not have any alarm clocks. This feature is not available in iPod 2.0 or earlier versions.
Setting the alarm clock
The alarm clock of iPod is easy to use and very functional. It is quite a simple procedure to set the alarm before going to bed. In many ways, it is just like setting your mobile alarm clock.
Follow the path Extras Clock Alarm clock from the main menu
Punch in the proper time you desire the alarm to wake you
Select the sound that you want as an alarm from one of the play lists
Turn on the alarm. To make sure whether it is on, check the right side of the screen for a bell with sound waves.
Connect the speakers to the headphone. This is necessary since the built in speakers are not very powerful for an alarm clock.
Finally set the volume loud enough to wake you up.
The alarm clock of iPod is designed to play songs, music or sounds from a play list. Since the alarm can be set up only through a play list, you have the luxury of selecting any song or bunch of songs that you wish to play as a wake up call. Even if you are unable to create a play list, you can still make an On The Go playlist, to make do while you are away from your computer. This can be done by simply scrolling to the desired song and pressing the button till the song name flashes and the song is added to the On The Go playlist. Any number of songs may be added to the playlist by this procedure. As for deleting a song from the playlist, Music Playlists On-The-Go and press the button on the name of the song you wish to delete.
The iPod alarm can also produce beeps in its built in alarm functions. This built in alarm is sometimes not loud enough to act as a wake up call. If you find that it is not enough for you, you can always add buzzers and beeps to the playlist. In case of these sounds, or even for songs, the files can be arranged to play the in a repeat loop. This can be done by enabling the Repeat option in the playback settings by following the path Settings > ; Repeat On/Off.
Checking time
The battery power should be checked just before dropping off to sleep. It is imperative that the iPod is functioning and has enough power to last till the morning. If in case, the battery dies down during the night, the alarm will not wake you up. It is a good idea to plug in the iPod AC adapter just before sleeping. Another thing to check is whether the date and time are set properly.
iPod has become a major source of amusement for us since some years. But the importance of any device comes with its functionality. By using the alarm clock provided with the iPod, we realize two things. First, that the device is capable of mixing pleasure with functionality and second, that there are many different ways and sounds to which to wake up.
