These people pick up jewelry as it is easy to carry and they have friends who mint the metal in minutes and give them money in return.
With the growing run for jewelry, even the prices of important ornamental materials are on the rise thereby forecasting a bright future for dealers in these markets. For those who cannot afford to buy huge amounts of original jewelry, the artificial ones are gruesome. So much so that even designers are coming out with beautiful artificial jewelry alluring the mass. These artificial ones are so similar to the original ones that for evening parties, owing to safety, many prefer wearing them.
There is a famous story in this context. One lady takes a diamond set (an artificial one) from her neighbor for that night to attend a party. In the party, the set is lost. Then, thinking the set to be a real one, the lady and her husband, buy a real one and replace that to their neighbor and toil hard throughout their life to repay the loans. At the end, they come to know that what they have lost was an artificial set and they toiled their life long for no reason. This storys fame can be attributed to the object in the story, the diamond set.
But at the same time, few people purposefully stay away from this endeavor. Reasons citable are quite practical like

Some parents rightly feel that instead of giving wealth in physical terms it is more promising to spend that amount on their little ones education and training and make them self reliable.
In all, while some believe that jewelry brings in luck and prosperity, some just ignore it. Whatever may be, it is an evergreen product whose glamour never reduces. Only according to the times, its presentation changes.
