as per standard plugin functionality, the popin plugin works by generating the HTML window instead of the popin text.

Therefore, anywhere you put the popin text in an article, the popin window will be created. E.g. if you have an articles about cameras, you can put an ad for cameras in the HTML parameter, and then put the popin text in the article to bring up the window.

The HTML goes in the Plugin Parameters as per the instructions on the description page (Extensions > Plugin Manager > Joomla Popin Window)

I also have a problem showing the popin with Joomla 1.5.7; I added the code in my template's index.php, added some text in the plugin HTML section and in my article I placed bracket-popin-bracket (code doesn't show in this forum)

But nothing is showing

First of all remove the HTML in the index.php, most times it isn't needed.

Well the plugin is a normal plugin. You'll need to understand how a plugin works first. A plugin has a trigger text { popin }. When you put the trigger text in an article, this gets replaced by the plugin functionality (in our case, the popin window). So make sure the popin plugin is enabled, and put the popin text in an article. This should get replaced by the HTML in the popin parameters. The trigger text does not show here, because it gets replaced with the popin window
