Instructions

Leo:

Step 1. Rename your flash files to 1.swf, 2.swf, 3.swf etc. It is very important to rename them to just a number.swf and order is after each other i.e. 1,2,3,4

Step 2. Upload your flash files to images/stories or any other path that you choose. You can do this using Joomla Media Manager or using FTP or anything else. Take note of the path example images/stories

Step 3. In the module parameters enter the following options:

Number of files - this is the number of flash files you have uploaded e.g. 4
Flash Base - the path where you have put the files (e.g. images/stories)

Width / Height - define the width and height of the files. The original files should be the same size, so that you don\'t have problems when displaying the module.

Choose to publish the module and save.

I have received a number of emails regarding people who have used it successfully. Usually any problem that might happen is with the path. To debug check your page source and ensure that the path is correct e.g. images/stories/1.swf

To be sure that the path is correct you should go to http://www.yoursite.com/images/stories/1.swf and check that the file is visible. If not that you either uploaded the files to a wrong place, or not named them correctly.

If you still have a problem, comment again, with the version of Joomla you are using and a link to your website.

what i need to know is how to put an alternative image (.jpg) so people with no flash plug-in in their computer won\'t see blank space? also can you add a script to detect flash plug-in?

i\'m a newbie and don\'t know much about programming.

Mark, this is not a problem with the module, but a problem with the template. Your template probably does not have the header position defined, and thus the module won\'t display there. Please read the following article to understand what I am saying:

How can I make the link open in the same window? Now the link opens in a new window. I have found 2 files:

1) mod_randomflash.php
2) mod_randomflash.xml

Where exactly do I adjust the target?
Please, see our flashbanner on www.baj.nu

Koos, please note that the module DOES NOT support linking, therefore your link is not coming from our component but from the flash banner that you have. Please get in touch with the person who has created the flash banner for you and instruct them that you do not want the link to open in a new window.

Hope this helps, if not please send us an email using the Contact Us page.

this may not have anything to do with you per say but I was wondering if you know a solution for this??

set # to 2, set mod name to show. I see the shape of the module has changed, the name but no images. I checked the path and the images show up. My site is http://localroost.com.

so what do sublevel menu items have to do with this?

or is it the JOOMSEF? i had to turn off all Itemid setting for sublevel menu to work, but IE had problems even before that...

Well, then there must be something in the other (non sub level pages) which is different. Best is to compare the pages (HTML generated), between the areas where it works, and the areas where it doesn\'t.

Switching off JoomSEF temporarily might also help you to determine whether it is the one causing the problem.

Hi There!, Thanks for your previous answer... now I have another one.
Modules content is not loading on other pages than the front page when SEO friendly Urls is activated but it shows ok everywhere when it\'s not activated, I guess the problem is with the paths to the altered (seo friendly) page names but I\'m just guessing, I\'m working on it, but maybe you have the solution in the pocket.
Thanks a lot for your attention

since the module does not modify / generate any links whatsoever, the problem you are having probably stems from something else. Are you using sh404SEF? If you aren\'t I suggest you use that one.

you\'ll just need to add wmode=\"transparent\" to both the object and the param tags in the php file, so that the HTML generated contains that code. This should sort your problem!

Hi gspeyrer,

typically this is something which is controlled when you are developing your flash file. However, you can try adding the loop=false parameter in the embed code as per the following instructions.

http://forums.techguy.org/web-design-development/480452-flash-loop-play-once-only.html

You\'d need to edit the php of the module to do this.

Actually it seems to be a problem with the AC_RunActiveContent.js requirement. I added the inline javascript to the module and the flash runs. However, this nukes the randomizer due to these java params:
\'src\', \'3\',
\'id\', \'."3\',
\'name\', \'3\',

Is there a work around in Flash to eliminate the AC_RunActiveContent.js requirement or a way to put the value \'$flashbase/$top.swf\' in the javascript?

Adding slash / doesn\'t fix the problem in FF3.

It seems to be a problem with the AC_RunActiveContent.js requirement. I
added the inline javascript to the module and the flash runs. However, this
nukes the randomizer due to these java params:
\'src\', \'3\',
\'id\',
\'.\"3\',
\'name\', \'3\',

Is there a work around in Flash to eliminate the
AC_RunActiveContent.js requirement or a way to put the value
\'$flashbase/$top.swf\' in the javascript?

Did we work out the problem for the flash not showing in FF3 but working in every other browser. eg: \"/\" does not make it work, and adding the \" AC_run.js\" does not either any ideas... cheers

No I added the \"/\" and that didn\'t do it. The issue is definitely with the AC_RunActiveContent inline script. Any thoughts?

I\'ve read through the stuff above and would like to use your module. What I have set up works correctly in IE and Safari but not FireFox. I see several have posted about this before but I don\'t see a solution.

All the best

The problem is typically extra slashes before or after the images path parameter in the module. Experiment with various options. Preferably no slashes are placed neither before nor after i.e. images/flash

Hello

I am very new to Joomla 1.5 and would appreciate your patience with me.

I have 2 questions:
1. I need to put a flash on my frontpage highlighting viewers to go to my Open Handed Page. Please send me a very simple step by step instruction.
2. I need to add more text to my title on the front page. How do I do this?
many thanks
