#41 - Create a page with the Login module

A recent dilemma we had was how to make it easier for users of a Joomla site to login, without having to use the Joomla Login module. Sometimes, the Login module can get lost within your content such that users might get confused, and you'd want to create a Login page which only contains the Login form.

Fortunately, this is again very easy to do once you know how :) You just need to create a link to the following address. This is the Joomla component which handles login / logout, and linking directly to will take you to a page which contains the Login Component. The Login module simply makes this component available through a Joomla module, to enable you to put a Login box.

Joomla 1.0: 

index.php?option=com_login

You can create the link in the menu, or somewhere which is very visible to make it easier for your users to login. Also note that clicking on this link when you are logged in, gives you the option to logout.

What version of 1.5 are you using? This has been tested on one of the earlier
versions of Joomla 1.5.

How do you edit the standard frontend login page provided by Joomla?

Hi, I tried a couple of login modules, but I haven't found anything that suits
my purpose. What I would like to accomplish is the same as #41. Login form
forces users to login/register and then only registered users can see a
gallery(component). So I have to add a link to the component after login, and if
login fails, users will come back to the same login form but with an error
message.
I don't want login form on the menu, but with modules I tried I can
only choose items on the menu.
What module are you using for #41? and how to
set the address (redirection) to a specific page?

We use the standard Joomla login module, no other 3rd party module is used.

Hi, guys I have the same problem.

What I need is to use my own Designed login
page as home page with nothing else i-e no header footer etc. on it.

Actually
it will be only for the registered users.And the users will be added from back
end.

I dont know how to do that. Any idea from you people/
