#67 - Debugging Joomla Code with Eclipse and XDebugOk, this tip may not be for everyone, but for those who want to play around with new modules, components etc, this is a must. To be quite frank, I've been doing it the hard way myself for more than 2 years (all current modules have been coded with only a Text editor and no official debugging but just an innate programming sense :) and a love of Joomla ), but this is the way forward. The Joomla Docs project has a perfect step by step instruction manual on how to setup PHP debugging for Joomla with Eclipse. Its very straightforward, and cater for the main development platforms i.e. Windows / Linux. Also, since we make use of XAMPP as a local server, things couldn't have been easier. You can also use the same page to learn how to easily install XAMPP, an essential tool for testing your Joomla website. Hope this benefits you as much as it did to us.
