Joomla 1.5 Articles Popular Lately - BETA

This module is a rewrite of the Joomla 1.0 module Popular of Late found here: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2414/Itemid,35/index.php 

Often there is such problem with the “Popular” (”Most Read Content”, mod_mostread) module. The articles displayed, get clicked over and over again, thus making these even more popular. As a result these articles do not leave from “popular” module, and new articles don’t appear here creating a vicious circle. One of solutions is to show popular news for the last NNN days. The “Articles Popular Lately” module based on the original “Popular” module and has an additional parameter only - the period of “novelty”.

So if you want to display the most popular items in the last month, you put it 30 as the period of novely. You will then get the most popular items in the last 30 days.

This module's usage is extremely simple, and should not require any particular usage instructions.

Installation

To install the module, simple go to Extensions > Install / Uninstall, choose the file you have downloaded above and click on the upload and install button. You can then configure the module via Extensions > Module Manager > Popular Lately

Compatibility

This version is only compatible with Joomla 1.5. If you require the Joomla 1.0 version, head over to http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2414/Itemid,35/

Idea & request: i am searching for month now, and even the J!1.0 Developer of Popular-Of-Late did not answer... Is it possible to subtract 1-hit when the link was clicked and used in the Frontpage-context !? I mean, that would be the total solution for the "problem". I found many different extensions which seem to get infos about the click-context (like frontpage, new, edit, view..) and there are some counter related extensions which "blocks" the clicks for admins and special IPs... So, i wonder if someone (hopefully you) can solve this unwanted click-counting... thanx for listening! TIA!

maxl  - Fatal Error   |Registered |2008-11-05 09:26:17 When the module is active the following error (with blank screen): Fatal error: Class 'ContentHelper' not found in /home/diybloom/public_html/modules/mod_popularlate ly/mod_popularlately.php on line 146 Downloaded on 5 Nov 2008, running latest version of Joomla, sh404SEF, VirtueMart - site being built, so not live, so we can run a test if required - can view rest of site @ diyblooms.com.au however have disabled the module for now - all works fine again then!! Hope this helps with the debug - great idea for a module!! ;-)
