Creating a Joomla Template with Template BuilderTemplate Builder let's you create and edit templates/themes without any programming skills. In the screenshot below you will see an outline of the Template Builder application.
Explanation of the components: 1 - Top BarThe top bar is used as the control for your account. If you first use Template Builder, you will see that you can login and create an account. Once you are logged in you will have the following options: My templates - the My templates link links into your account and will open up the templates you saved. My account - the My account link will open up your account screen within the application (in component 4 - the Grid). Logout - the Logout link will log you out of your account. Make sure to always logout when you are not using your computer or sharing your computer with other users. Subscription - the Subscription will show the current status of your subscription. This can either be 'Active' or 'No subscription'. Once you have an active subscription you will be able to export templates and use the preview functionality without any limitations. If you do not have an active subscription, you will still be able to work and save your templates. Balance - There are several ways to earn money with Template Builder. The money you earn is added to your Template Builder Balance, your virtual bank account. Upon request this money can then be transferred to a bank account of your choosing. 2 - ControllersThe controllers are settings which are linked to a specific component within the template. You can select a component either by using the Top Menu or by selecting the desired component from within the template.
Every controller has 2 modes: In the designer mode you will find the basic settings. Sometimes it is necessary to set more complex and specific settings. In that case you choose the expert option.
3 - Top MenuThe Top Menu let's you select all the components and enables the matching controllers (see point 2)
4- The Grid The grid is a live preview of your template. The Grid is interactive and it allows you to click on the item you want to change. It will open the matching controllers (see point 2), allowing you to edit just that specific item.
5- CMS MenuThe CMS Menu let's you choose the Content Management System (CMS) you want to create a template for. You are able to select a different CMS during development. Once you click your favorite CMS the template will be adjusted so it will work on that CMS. After creation you will be able to download your templates for all available Content Management Systems.
