[How to ] Add Google AdSense in FireBoard / Kunena and Joomla

Insert Google AdSense into Kunena Joomla Forum

We've been recommending the use of FireBoard as an integrated Joomla forum for quite a while. Recently we encountered a small issue, which it looks like has been annoying a lot users for a very long time. FireBoard templates have a number of templates which can be used to enable advertising using AdSense or any other advertising module. However, these do not work with Joomla 1.5 and Leagacy mode. The following hack works around this issue.

  To display your AdSense in FireBoard and Joomla 1.5, you'll have to hack the FireBoard template. Here is what we did:

In the following file: components/com_fireboard/template/default/message.php we found the following code

<?php
if (mosCountModules('fb_msg_1'))

{
?>

    <div class = "fb_msg_t">
        <?php
        mosLoadModules('fb_msg_1', -2);
        ?>
    </div>

<?php
}
?>

deleted it, and replaced it the the AdSense code. Seems like this is the only way to go to insert AdSense into FireBoard with Joomla 1.5. You can do the same for the rest of the positions which you want to use, i.e.

fb_msg_t

fb_msg_1

fb_msg_2

fb_msg_b

You can also enter arbitrary HTML to create any kind of advertising besides AdSense, however, to our knowledge you can't use Joomla modules within FireBoard version 1.0.4. Hopefully this will be sorted in next versions.

Caution: Make sure you have backups of any files you are changing

One more thing...
