It uses Google Maps to display markers on the geo location of the visitors. Hi jafar, the position where you put the map depends only on the template you are using. You need to assign the module to a template position which corresponds to the area you want.
i am using the default template of Joomla, and i saw a demo for this extension where the map is displayed beneath the news in the front page, so i am wondering what is that position name.
thanks in advance
Jafar, the position used in the demo is the footer position.
Hi, can you tell me how to set a particular initial zoom level, and centre of map focus?
How did you achieve this with regards to your screen shots?
Regards.
is there a reason why users won't show up on the map?
i'm asking my friends to visit the site to test -
dchewus, give them a day or two ... they will show up soon.
I like to know how i can take the image button out from the bottom, actually the image does not display correctly, i see a box and inside is "Joomla visitor map", can you help me?
Thnaks
We've published a new version which removes the image link.
I downloaded my version from this page above, is that a latest version?
Or do you have another link to the new version?
Thank you for all you do for this joomla comunity.
Oscar
Oscar, the new version replaced the older version with the image in the Downloads section. If you downloaded it again after our comment, you should have the latest version.
I was wondering, do the visitors need to be registered to the website to be pinned? I've had the module running for a few days now and only have two pins while a lot of unregistered users have visited the site.
I published this module and configured the API that i was using for gmaps.
The next moment my home page is turned to blank
I unpublished and my site up again. Could you please let me know if there is any known issue. I love to have this module on my website
Varma, please get in touch via Contact Us with address and possibly admin access so that we may troubleshoot.
... do take a bit of time to start showing up. It is important that your server has access to the URL nolinkspls://api.hostip.info since this is used to determine the coorodinates of the current user.
Dart;
The nolinkspls://api.hostip.info URL works perfectly for myself, (and on the visitor map too) but for one of my testers the URL doesnt show any info at all on where they are located, is there a firewall/routing issue there? glitch?
Thanks
If its works on the server which hosts the Joomla site, then it should show up fine. If the IP does not produce any location info, it won't show up on the visitor map ![]()
Thanks dart.... This iss a great module..
I'm just finished intall it at my site...
Please... Where is the MapType changed so that HYBRID will be the default?
Thanks, or gracias,, coming soon will be in my website, i don´t usderstand the 3rd party extension that you install., please helpme, i´m afraid for the security,, thanks

Hi,
the module works fine, yet an error message is displayed above the map.
Hope you have an answer,
greetings
Bernhard
This is just a warning. You should disable PHP warnings on your website, by putting:
display_errors = Off
in your php.ini file
Hi,
If it is just a warning and I don;t have access to php.ini...
...I inserted the line: error_reporting(0);
into mod_j15visitormap.php That solves it too!
Thanks,
Bernhard
Joomla Visitor Map was great already, but with the added parameters of latitude, longitude and zoom it's even better, especially for those who are not [yet] looking at the world for their custom. Many thanks for an excellent and easy to use product!
Hi Dude,
While using this module i found this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in C: \wamp\zzz\JoomlaTest\modules\mod_j15visitormap\mod _j15visitormap.php on line 268
Please Solve It...........
it tell me next error:
no database entry
i check the tables in mysql and is ok, the same than another joomla portals, wath is happend herE?
Please post on forums, with address to your site so that we may help troubleshoot.
I don't know if it is a known issue or something, but I installed the module and where ever I publish it, that whole page does not display
I have my API key for the site, my longitude and latitude and everything, but it does not give me any error, just does not displays a blank page.
Have you heard about something like this before?
Thanks.
Noone has reported this before. Its probably throwing some kind of error, however unless you can see the error, its hard to determine what is really cuasing it ![]()
This module is great - is there a way to modify it so that registered users can enter their location, and then have the module display a map of the locations of all registered users? Thanks!
Hi Darren,
not at the moment. I suggest you enter this into the Feature Requests lists on our Forums, and this will hopefully be implemented in the future!

You need to set a setting on php to disable warnings and notices. Unless you have errors, the Visitor Map will work ok. The markers take a few hits before they start registering correctly.
Hello from germany!
Sorry, but I don´t understand that statement:
This module no longer works and should be disabled
Is this modul not o.k.?
I have installed it, no error, I see the map, but I don´t see any pins.
I have set the time from 3600 to 7200.
2 hours to see where the pins are - correct?

For some time it used to cause an error, so we put up a warning that it might not work.
If you are getting the markers, then it must be back on track.
Hi again,
I have no error and I get all the pins on the map.
But all the same pins are since 4 days on the map.
when will they delete?
in the setup the timeout is now 7200.
regards
John Deere
Seems like I'm going around in circles here. Where can you download this??
I can not find the download. I go to your downloads page and there is no link to download the visitor map. Could you let me know if this is something with me or your site?
Thanks.
1) I have installed it, no error, I see the map, but I don´t see any pins.
2) Where downloads section of module?
Have just installed Joomla Visitor Map and it reports a parse error in modules\mod_j15visitormap\mod_j15visitormap.php on line 266. Line 266 is the last (blank) line in the file. Any idea what the problem is?

Very nice module, but can you advise how to set custom markers for visitor's postions? Can I use an .ico file as the marker? I can't seem to find the answer in the forums.
Also is there a way to set the map to hybrid style by default?
